What People Say About SFBB

Wayne Eddy winner of the 1997 Minnesota Broadcaster of the Year - "They're absolutely great! String Fever Bluegrass Band is by far the best acoustic act in Southern Minnesota." (KYMN Radio 1080 AM Stereo)

Ken Dugan of Minneapolis, MN - I've known Doug Pelleymounter for the better part of 15 years and trust his musical taste and instinct implicitly. Although I have known Mark and Holly Fischer and Bruce Bernhart for only a few years, I already know of their intense love and respect for this music we call Bluegrass. When you put these folks together, you have String Fever Bluegrass Band, one of my favorites in the upper midwest. They have fun with their music and entertain in the process.

Roger P. Clark - a bluegrass fan - From the charming little town of Northfield, MN emerges the excellent String Fever Bluegrass Band. On their new album, Authentic High Fidelity,  we hear this talented group doing solid traditional bluegrass music and some music of their own. This entertaining band is always in demand for its crisp and authentic performances.

Stacey Certain - This bluegrass band has its roots firmly planted in traditional soil. They have selected some of the finest songs in their arsenal, honed them and recorded them for all of us to enjoy in their new CD aptly titled Authentic High Fidelity. In this session the songlist ranges from the "Parking Lot Pickin'" favs In the Gravel Yard and Glendale Train to their original tunes On the Pilgrim Way and Boarman Bounce. The liner notes definitely show that they are having fun even during the serious task of recording music. This recording is one for the car as well as one for home. Enjoy it!

Chuck Stearman - SPBGMA king - This band is not only good but they are very entertaining. I like that!

Seth Glasser, Joshua Yesnowitz and Michael Meguerdichian - Skidmore Collegians - Dear Holly, Your son was kind enough to show us your CD's. We are not bluegrass fans and we must however admit that the new album is absolutely spectacular. I'm sure Reed served as much inspiration when producing this album. Keep up the good work. Your web site is rad.

LouAnn Hurd - Iowa Bluegrass Lover - Doug! I received your CD, thank you! It's really great. You are very talented on that banjo and your voice is just golden. You really shine on your vocals. The instrumental that you wrote was awesome. Can you tell I liked it?

David Miller - Oregon Bluegrass Lover and 5 String Banjo Player - Just got your CD and played it. I liked every cut, which is pretty rare, and the vocals are true to fine tradition of the old time genuine balladeering style. Your guitar player has an especially good voice. The instrumental aspect of the CD is also top of the line as far as I'm concerned, even that banjo player. It makes me wish I had practiced more over the years!

Robert Lee Johnson - An Internet visitor - Hello, Neat band you have.

Russ Enga - A bluegrass lover - I really enjoyed your band's performance in Butterfield. Every set was great to hear. I hope you can return again sometime. I bought your new CD Authentic High Fidelity and it is great listening.

Lee in Denver - Love Your Bluegrass / Acoustic Music Web Ring Site.

Rick Stern - Banjo Player in Indiana - Greetings, I just discovered your enjoyable website. I am a 1970 St. Olaf graduate. But don't hold that against me. Good luck with your band. My wife's family is all in the Twin Cities: Eden Prairie, Chaska, Hopkins, etc.. She gets there much more than I do, but if I do get back, I will try to catch one of your shows.

Julia Newell - St. Olaf Student - Dear String Fever, I was out of town last weekend, and hated to miss your Northfield gig. So, instead I thought I'd take the opportunity to write you guys some fan mail. Well, here's my testimony... "I tried String Fever, and within a week I'd lost 8 pounds!" Wait, wrong testimony. I'm a student at St. Olaf College, and hearing you while I was here this summer was the first live Bluegrass I'd ever heard. I fell in love with the sound of Bluegrass and the sound of String Fever, and I'm ecstatic that you're playing gigs in Northfield that are within "student-without-a-car" distance. You guys are great.

Rand Dannenberg - Bluegrass Listener from California - Doug, I just wanted you to know that my wife and I love your album, and we listen to it a lot - very peppy !! Keep coming up with more !!

Chuck Offenburger - Bluegrass Listener from Iowa - I write now with a talent tip about a Minnesota group, the String Fever Bluegrass Band from Northfield. I heard them do two wonderful shows in the bandshell here on the shores of Storm Lake during our Star Spangled Spectacular. They were playing two other dates in northwest Iowa later in the week, and then they came back this morning to do a bluegrass service at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where -- if you can believe this -- they had the Presbyterians standing, clapping and hooting! It was scandalous. And great. They do bluegrass standards (including my all-time favorite song Life's Railway to Heaven) and they do some original stuff. On the 4th, Doug and Holly did a duet on In the Pines that was the sweetest thing I've heard from Minnesota since Kate MacKenzie sang with Phil Everly on PHC on a Saturday night long ago. Best of all, they are as personable and genuine as they are humble. These are career people who tour in the summers playing festivals and celebrations. You do need to check 'em out. I think they have "A Prairie Home" written all over them.

Judy Johnson - music coordinator for Wells, MN Kernel Days - You folks made a wonderful impression on our town celebration. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING!

Eldo Brandenburg - Waseca County Township Board Secretary/Treasurer - THANK YOU for your entertainment at our Waseca Co. Twp. Banquet. Everyone we talked to sure enjoyed your music. THANKS AGAIN! Hope you did not have too much trouble getting home as the weather was very foggy all night.

Tom Althouse - Bluegrass Bass Player from Toronto - Hey I got another couple of minutes to "browse" your web site. Really, really, really well done. I love the "Real Deal", it's almost as good as "Authentic", "41 1/2 Big ..", etc.

Malcom Pulley (author of In The Gravel Yard) - I received the CD you sent today - Authetnic High Fidelity.  What a cool idea for a CD jacket. I enjoyed the old album look with the min 45 inside.  Thanks for doing "In The Gravel Yard". Each version I hear is unique in some way. It is interesting to hear the different ways that people present the same song!!  Your vocal work is excellent and the band’s harmony is top notch.  Good luck with your band - and thanks again!

Bill Philipp - a bluegrass musician from Bloomington, MN - Huh? What was the question?
